or Dan for short.
I’m a DevOps engineer at SWR Audio Lab and a hybrid athlete chasing myself doing HYROX races in my spare time. This site is where I document the process of making both work.
At work, I build and run backend infrastructure supporting platforms like ARD Sounds and SWR’s radio apps. From live metadata, voice assistants, audio delivery, to API systems serving billions of requests per month. I also work on the responsible integration of AI into public broadcasting. I care about systems that are observable, sustainable, and built to last beyond my involvement.
Outside of work, I train in my free time — a mix of strength, running, cycling, and functional fitness. I chase my personal best in HYROX races.
On here, I write about what I’m learning across both worlds. Training, building systems, staying consistent, and everyday life.
I’m based in southwest Germany. I value quality over quantity — in code, in training, in how I spend my time. The thread through everything: solving problems with digital or hybrid solutions.
Previously I worked in live and film productions, press photography, and web development — from chatbots nominated for Deutscher Radiopreis to pandemic information platforms and virtual trade fairs.
